This post's a shoutout to one of my very good friends. Over the weekend she broke up with her boyfriend. This can be a tough process for anyone to go through, but I'm sure she'll make it through just fine. She has a lot of friends that will be there for her whenever she needs them. Luckily for us this this situation means that she'll get to spend more time with us :P always have to look at the bright side of things. So heres some songs for you, hopefully they help cheer you up if you need it, they include a new one by Glacier Hiking I'm sure you'll enjoy.

Your Vegas- In My Head

NEED TO HEAR- Glacier Hiking

Ive been waiting to write a shout out for these guys but I guess nows as good a time as ever. Im back in History class and can't seem to pay attention. Anyways, Glacier Hiking. The band consists of two main members Ross Golan and Tommy Walter. You may recognize Tommy's name from his previous work with his band Abandonned Pools, this is how I actually found out about Glacier Hiking. Overall Glacier Hiking is a stronger band than Abandonned pools wasm and I think this is due to the creativity of Ross and Tommy together. They just released a new EP which has been at the top of my playlists since I purchased it. They plan to release 3 more EPs by years end. Not only are they great musicians but they are great guys who respect their fans, Ive messaged them before and theyv'e gotten back to my right away, they have nothing but good things to say. So give these guys a shot, their songs are pretty addictive, so listen at your own risk. One of my friends had one of their songs on repeat for over an hour yesterday, she's crazy.
Check out both Glacier Hiking and Abandonned pools, they are both solid bands.

BACK IN THE STUDIO

BACK IN THE STUDIO..... has to be one of my favourite sentances ever, as is should be for any music lover. The joy you get from knowing one of your favourite bands is back at work making more music makes your ears want to cry. The past month or so I've experienced that feeling sixtimes over, as news of my favourtie bands heading back to the studio has finally reached me. Who knows when any of the new content will finally see the light of day, maybe at the end of the year, or beginning of the next, one really can't tell, but either way Im excited, I just can't wait. if you haven't heard of any of these bands I highly recommend you set some time aside and give them a listen they deserve it.

Fair- Unglued

Silversun Pickups

Band Of Horses- Is there a ghost

New London Fire- We Don't Bleed

Guster- Happier

Patrick Wolf-Accident and Emergency

Enjoy guys and get ready for some new material to be coming your way very soon, if you liked any of theses bands check them out on myspace and give them some of your support.

HAVE YOU HEARD- Bowerbirds

Bowerbirds are an interesting band with interesting music. They make use of a variety of instruments in their album Hyms for a Dark Horse, including an accordian and who the hell doesn't like some good accordian playing. The lead singer reminds me of the lead singer from Jump Little Children, his voice at least. These guys are worth your time when you have some time to chill out, they wont pump you up by any means, but throw them on when you want to get away from the daily grind.

Bower Birds- Hooves

CHECK OUT- The Surrender

The Surrender is a band I discovered through another bands friends list on myspace. I stumbled upon them by chance and am quite happy that I did. They have a mellow-easygoing-rock thing going for them, they are good to just chill out to, trying to think who they remind me of, Mobile perhaps? Give them a listen and decide for yourself. Song to start off with- The Surrender (same as the band name) their first obvious single, I guess it got some airplay a while ago on some alternative stations but I never heard it myself.

NO LONGER WITH US

No longer with us is an idea Im toying with, we'll see if it goes anywhere. Basically every week or so Ill do a little spotlight on a band that had an influence on my music taste or at least was music I enjoyed now or at one time. These bands are as the title states, no longer with us, not with dead members, but the band is dead itself.

This Weeks NO LONGER WITH US, the first of its kind, focuses on a band I discovered in grade 10, and that is Days Away, they're nothing out of this world by any means, but they still had some good music, which helped me through some rough times, my favourite track by them would probably be God or Mars I used to run alot at night through the neighbourhoods near where I lived, and would always start or end with God or Mars, it always gave me that little extra push I needed. Check out the bands myspace and give them a listen yourself, hopefully you dont like them too much because unfortunatly, they are dead.

.........luckily for you many of the previous members of Days Away have formed a new band, GOOD OLD WAR, and are actually starting to get some of the well deserved publicity. Although they dont sound exactly the same, they still retain some of that Days Away feel.

Hey everyone just chilling in my University History class and European history is boring as shit. Who cares about the Tsars, lets get to WWII. Anyways I have some free time so I thought Id share one of my favourite places to waste some time with you guys.
http://www.blogotheque.net/spip.php?page=cae_all〈=en
These are Take Away Shows, when bands hit up Paris they go and do a little private-esque show, down the streets and local bars of Paris. You really get a brand new feeling from songs you may have already heard from watching these, some are utterly amazing. Give them a shot, go waste some time, there are some great bands in there.

Oh and does anyone want to help me study up some European history for my midterm........

Heres a treat for all you indie fans out there. On February 17th, the Red Hot Organization is going to be releasing a compilation album on which many well known bands have lent their musical talent for. I highly recommend that anyone who reads this go out an buy themselves a copy when it released, as all the proceeds are going to a good cause, AIDS and HIV awareness. So you can feel good about yourself while rocking out to some brand new tunes by some of your favourite artists. Heres a little preview of the album, The Nationals brand new track So Far Around the Bend

U2- Get Your Boots On

http://ninablog.files.wordpress.com/2009/01/u2-no_line_on_the_horizon.jpg?w=450&h=404
So U2's brand new single from their upcoming album "Line on the Horizon" has finally leaked. You've probably heard it by now since it posted on most blogs yesterday and Im a day behind. While this song isn't something diehard fans of the Joshua Tree would be hoping to hear, its still a strong track and one Im sure will grow on most U2 fans. Give it a listen and judge for yourself, U2 is trying to reinvent themselves, and this might not be as terrible as some people might think.

The Jakes

The Jakes are a band that I can not recommend to enough people. Seriously they are worth a listen if you have any time to spare, even if it be only a few seconds. They are amazing and you wouldn't believe they are such a young band from the way their music sounds. They are catchy and poppy without being bubblegum. Their songs are addicting and you will find yourself listening to them over and over again. If you haven't heard from these guys yet give them a shot, youve got nothing to lose and you wont be dissapointed.

On another note these guys just beat out like 8 other bands (crushed them actually) for the chance to open for The Kings of Leon for a concert supporting aids awareness.
